Pagudpud's name came from a famous story of a father and a son who went to fishing in this town, then the son caught a big fish. He said "Pa, good food!". From then on the story went on from on tongue to another until it became Pa-gud-pud.
Tip1: Do travel with private car, it's difficult to take public transportation to visit these towns.
TIp2: Leave early to have enough tour time so that you'll still have the chance to enjoy swimming.
Tip3: Bring water to prevent dehydration specially on a hot day.
Tip4: Visit the Patapat Viaduct, enjoy the sea view and the long curvy road of Patapat.
Tip5: Paraiso ni Anton Waterfalls is the next stop, relatively small falls of potable water.
Tip6: Just opposite the falls is the pathway to the Marcoses' abandoned resthouse.
Tip7: Kapurpurawan Rock Formation is a must-see but we did not have the time to visit, it was raining heavily in late afternoon.
Tip8: On our way to Pagudpud beach, we stopped by the Bantay Abot Cave. Be careful of the slippery rocks on the way to the cave.
Tip9: Pagudpud beach is quite famous for beach getaways. During summer the place is quite crowded. There are a lot of beach houses for transients available in the area.
Tip10: Take some souvenier photos by the road overlooking the beach.
Tip11: Be cautious when swimming at the beach specially at night, the waves are strong so stay away from the big rocks at the far end side of the beach.
Tip12: For lunch, we tried Kapuluan Vista Resort. For accomodations please see http://kapuluanvista.com/ .
Tip13: They have an infinity pool and a restaurant.
Tip14: We tried their special empanada, pork sinigang (sour pork soup) and grilled tanigue with organic salad. It was a sumptous lunch!
Tip15: Then we continued our tour to Bangui Windmills, this is Bongbong Marcos' pride. The windmills are used to generate electricity to the nearby towns.
Tip16: Bring home souvenier windmill miniatures and pearl accessories.
Tip17: Visit the famous Lighthouse of Cape Bojeador, be careful of the steep staircase specially when it's raining.
Tip18: Don't pass the chance of seeing Bacarra's Acrobatic Bell Tower, a series of earthquakes has reduced the size of the tower. The ruins of the upper part of the tower are seen on the ground, they fell down like acrobats.
Tip19: Also, try Pasuquin's famous biscocho. You can have two options, the hard and soft biscocho. It goes perfectly well with coffee.
Tip20: Take note that there is no other branch for Pasuquin Bakery, try the original biscocho only in this place.
Tip21: There are also salt and vinegar stands around Pasuquin.
We concluded our tour with munching biscochos! Thank you Ilocos Norte for sharing your beauty and history to us!
