Love Affair with the City of Pines Baguio City

This year is a super hot summer in the Philippines, surely the summer capital will be one of the busiest city in the country. Baguio City is a favorite summer destination because of it's cold weather. It is me and my husband's yearly vacation choice.

A lot of transient houses are available around the city but it is my personal choice to stay in hotels instead of the transient houses. But honestly it's hard to find a hotel that I can say deserves my penny. Usually we stay for a night only to visit churches like Baguio Cathedral, St. Lourdes Grotto and Pink Sisters Church. We also like to shop for freshly picked veggies and fruits in the city's flea market.

Camp John Hay was a major hill station in Baguio for the United States Armed Forces in the Philippines. Nowadays it is one of the well-known tourist spots in the city having numerous shops, restaurants and hotels.

The first hotel in Camp John Hay is The Manor, it is a distinguished hotel known for cozy interior and classy service. But early this year another hotel opened with the name Le Monet.

Countryside Ambiance at The Manor

Tip1: Camp John Hay is a known place in Baguio and most of the taxi drivers are familiar with this hotel. Taxi drivers in Baguio City are nice and honest, remember since Baguio is often cold the taxis are non-airconditioned.

Tip2: It's nicer to have a private car to go to Baguio but drive carefully because the road is steep and sometimes it's foggy. We tried driving to Baguio and it's really a scary ride so take care.
Tip3: The Manor was the only hotel in Camp John Hay but not anymore having Le Monet around, it is usually fully booked so it's advisable to do reservations. For reference here is the link to their website: http://www.campjohnhay.ph/accommodation.php .

Tip4: Upon arrival, the nice staffs of the hotel are ready to help their guests with the luggages.

The lobby of the hotel is very cozy which has a fireplace and Narda's souvenier shop.

Tip5: Choose a room with garden view to enjoy the view of flower blossoms.

Tip6: Their rooms are relatively big with clean bathrooms, no need to worry about toiletries because the hotel provides their guests including slippers and robes.

Tip7: The hotel offers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Le Chef is the in-house resto of The Manor, they accept non-resident diners as well.

Tip8: During Valentine's Day, The Manor offers romantic candlelight dinner with mini-valentine concert/serenade.
Tip9: The Manor's garden is very attractive and the ambiance is really relaxing. The colors of the flowers, the cold weather and the view of the city are the reasons why this hotel is different from the rest.

Tip10: Just nearby from The Manor is a long-stretch of shops and casual restaurants as well. Carlo's Pizza deserves a visit if you're a pizza fan.

Tip11: If you also like Chinese food, MXT in SM Baguio is also a nice choice.

Plus SM Baguio's terrace is a good place to enjoy the lights of the city's skyline.
The Promising Le Monet

Le Monet is the newest hotel in town! We discovered this hotel because we didn't find a room in The Manor. They had their soft opening last January to cater for pre-Panagbenga guests but their official opening was last February just in time for Panagbenga Festival.

Tip12: Le Monet online reservation is still in-progress but reservation are accepted through (074)661-02-01 to 08. The general manager and the head chef are very welcoming, we found time to have a chit-chat with them and they were making sure that we receive great service.

The interior design is impressive, they maximized the place and made it so elegant and cozy. The crystal chandeliers and furnitures made the mood so fresh.
Tip13: Le Monet offers De Luxe Twin, De Luxe King and Junior Suite. We chose De Luxe Twin to accomodate my sister and my nephew with complimentary breakfast.
Tip14: They also provide toiletries, slippers and robes.

The coolest thing in Le Monet is their toilet bowl, it's electronic! It flushes and closes by itself plus they got a TV inside their bathroom. My husband definitely enjoyed this!
I know that me and my hubby will be visiting Baguio yearly so having these two hotels is bliss. It's like finding a home away from home.
