Kuala Lumpur : Home of the Petronas Twin Towers

Kuala Lumpur is the federal capital city of Malaysia, the city is very industrialized and is the fastest growing city in Malaysia.

Tip1: There are two airports in Kuala Lumpur, we went for a budget airline. The airport in ICCT is quite spacious and needs a long walk from the waiting area to the airplane.
Tip2: Taxis are available in the airport, just need to buy ticket from the taxi stalls.
Tip3: Take care of your belongings in Kuala Lumpur, it is a crowded city.
Tip4: The distance from the airport to the city proper is far, approximately an hour drive.
Tip5: Malaysian ringgit (RM) is the currency in Kuala Lumpur.
Tip6: Take taxis that use meters, there are some drivers who take advantage of the tourists.

For our visit in Kuala Lumpur, we only took taxi and mrt. We didn't try the buses because we were not so familiar of the bus route.

From the hotel we went to Pavilion Mall, this mall was recommended by my Malaysian citizen colleagues.

It is a high end mall. During our visit, a carshow was the event for the night. We saw a lot of luxury cars like ferrari, bmw and porsche.

Pavilion Mall is located at a long stretch avenue of luxury shops.
Tip7: It is a crowded city so take precaution while strolling down the streets.

Tip8: Visit the Tokyo Street inside the Pavilion. It gives the shoppers a Tokyo ambiance and offers Tokyo food for a reasonable price.

Tip9: There are buffet Japanese restaurants inside the street with very reasonable price.
Tip10: Daiso Japan which sells cheap merchandize is also open for the shoppers.

Tip11: Don't forget to try the traditional Japanese sweets Mochi.

 

 

Tip12: Japan's traditional ice cream is also available for ice cream lovers.

Tip13: The mrt trains use cards and tokens, use token for single trips.

Tip14: KL sentral is the central mrt station, there are shops in the terminal selling a lot of stuffs like phone cards, bags , shoes, chocolates, gifts and a lot more.

Tip15: Traffic is quite bad in Kuala Lumpur, try to travel early to avoid the congested streets.

The old mrt terminal of Kuala Lumpur is still a sight in the city.

St. John's Cathedral is a known catholic cathedral in the city, there are a lot of parishioners visiting the church specially on Sundays.

 Tip16: There are quite a lot of interesting infrastructures in Kuala Lumpur, have your cameras ready all the time.

Tip17: Wear comfortable footwears to stroll around the city. For myself I opted to use a pair of flipflops.

Tip18: It is relatively hot in the city, don't forget your sun protectors to be spared from the scorching heat of the sun.
Tip19: The most famous landmark in KL is the Petronas Twin Towers. It was beautifully done and it deserves the hype.

Tip20: One of the most famous towers is also the KL Tower.

Tip21: Just beside the twin towers is the Suria KLCC, it is a shopping mall which has food courts, restaurants, shops, discovery center and a lot more.

Tip22: At KLCC park, the night view of the city is reflected in the water.

Tip23: For dinner you can try KIKI, a Taiwanese restaurant. They offer quite a lot of variey like hot pots, seafood, noodles, steamboat and a lot more.

Tip24: We also tried the monorail on our way to Titiwangsa Park. Since the nearest station to the park is still quite a distance we chose to take a taxi from Titiwangsa station.

Titiwangsa Park is a vast piece of land which has a lake at the middle and picnic tables.

 Tip25: The picnic tables are free to use, there are public toilets in the park as well.

Merdeka Square is also a famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur.

Tip25: For souvenier shopping, visit Kuala Lumpur Central Market for good deals.

Kuala Lumpur is truly one big busy city. The city is very promising considering the skyscrapers and landmarks. With good maintenance and continous beautification, it will be a more famous tourist destination in the future.
