Sunrise in the Land of Belgian Chocolates Brussels Belgium

In my past blog, I mentioned that we had a European Road Trip and Brussels, Belgium is one of the main cities that we planned to visit. After Cologne,Germany we continued our journey to Belgium. We arrived around 6am in the city, it's a bit early so the streets are not busy yet.
Tip1: The city is quite safe but don't be surprised if sometimes it's messy and can see vandals around.
Tip2: There are some free parking spaces but most of the time it's pay parking. There are parking slot machines, make sure that you leave your ticket on your dashboard so that traffic officers can see else they will issue violation ticket to you.
Tip3: Brussels is a French speaking city ( there are Dutch speaking locals as well ) and uses euro as currency.
Tip4: It is better to go around the city in the morning to avoid traffic.
Tip5: There are also city tour buses if you do not prefer city walking tour.

Our fist stop is the Royal Palace, it is the royal palace of the king but it is not the king's resident.

Brussels Park is just opposite the Royal Palace, it's a big park good for morning walks.

Tip6: For walking tours, it's quite easy but don't forget to bring a map.

Then we went to see St. Michael Church.

We did a walking tour with the help of our map, we went around the city passing through chocolate shops and waffle stores. The Belgians chocolates are mouth-watering!

Tip7: It's quite difficult to choose where to buy chocolates because there are a lot of chocolate shops. There are some choco shops that allow taste test and give reasonable prices.

We went to see the Mannekin Pis, it is a small bronze statue depicting a little boy urinating into a basin. One of Brussels' famous landmark.

Grand Place or Grote Markt which is known for the flower carpet was included in our itinerary. It is also known as the central square. There are cafes offering waffles around the central market, by the way waffles are popular Belgian breakfast.

Tip8: Around 730am the city is already busy so the streets are bustling, heavy traffic is expected.
Tip9: Visit Atomium, claimed to be the most popular  in Brussels and it is a symbol of Europe's capital. For more information visit their website http://atomium.be/ .

Tip10: Just nearby Atomium is Mini-Europe, it is a park where all the important European landmarks can be seen. Please refer to http://www.minieurope.com/ to know more about Mini-europe.
I personally admire how these miniatures were intricately designed. From France, Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Italy and a lot more!

Tip11. Don't forget to take photo with Mini-europe's mascott and bring home some souveniers.
We concluded our Brussels trip with Mini-europe, it's nice to see the great landmarks in one park. Then we went on our roadtrip to the City of Lights: Paris.
